Simon Guy Fässler was born 1977 in Zurich. He was educated at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology as a chemical laboratory technician from '94 to '96. Then he was employed at the Center of Biotechnology, ETH Lausanne and Institute for Forensic Medicine, University of Zurich between '97 and '99. From 2000 to '06 he studied Visual Communication, in the departement of motion picture at the University of Fine Arts, Hamburg and was attending the classes of Wim Wenders, Fatih Akin, Gerd Roscher and Rüdiger Neumann among others.
Since 2007 he is working as a freelance Cinematographer on Swiss and international productions mainly for feature fiction and documentary movies, commercials, music videos and art projects. He lives with his wife and two children based in Zurich, Switzerland.
In 2013, he co-founded with fellow filmmakers the Zurich based production company 8HORSES. Simon Guy Fässler is a member of the EFA European Film Academy, Swiss Film Academy and the Swiss Cinematographers Society SCS.
